Our kennels was established in 1978.

The 1st breed we had were German Shepherds, then around 1982 we purchased our 1st Border Collie after watching them at a sheep dog trial.
We bred and showed Borders until seeing the 1st Australian Shepherd in 1996 at Crufts.
We bought every book we could find on the Aussies, and started to look at various kennels and breeders for our first Australian shepherd.
We were the first people to have the fore site to import this wonderful breed into South Africa, and we can see how well it’s taken off….
Our first Aussie arrived from a very good friend of ours, in Australia (Perth) Ms Leann Irvine of Hotnote Kennels.

"Arizona" was the 1st Australian Shepherd to land on South African soil, and later became the 1st Australian Shepherd bitch show champion.

She was a pleasure to own, and was the 1st of many Australian Shepherds to be imported by STAVROS KENNELS.

We imported from TOP KENNELS such as BAYSHORE, ROSEMERE, WOODSTOCK’S, SENTIKKI and MONTROSE, they all contributed to the great success STAVROS KENNELS is having today.

We now have many STAVROS progeny competing all over the country at the highest levels of Breed, Obedience, Dog Jumping, Agility, Fly ball, Tracking, Carting, Search dogs on ships as well as Police dogs searching for narcotics!!

We would just like to say how proud we are of all the handlers who have taken our dogs to these high levels, showing the true versatility of this great breed.
We have made wonderful friends along the way and we strive to be “HEADS ABOVE THE REST”
